In the liminal space between wakefulness and sleep, lies a realm of boundless creativity known as hypnagogia. It is in this sacred space that the imagination awakens, giving birth to visions that dance across the canvas of the mind.

The Art

It emerged back in 2020 as a means to cope with changing times. During that uncertain period, my Dad was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. This is when the artwork began to take form. His final day came a few days before my birthday on August 10, 2021. On that day, I remember him softly uttering that his dreams were “spooky.” Today, I still wonder what he saw.

I find the meditative practice of layering ink and watercolor to be immensely therapeutic. My deep connection to the desert feel of Joshua Tree aligns with the visual inspiration for much of my work, alongside an ongoing fascination with mind, spirit, nature, consciousness, and the self.

Art has brought purpose and meaning into to my life. It helped me find myself. By creating imagery that is otherworldly, I aim to help inspire others in hopes that it can be a catalyst for their own personal healing. Author and psychologist David R. Hawkins writes:

“Hang on to your confusion. In the end, it’s your best friend.”
